Taraweeh Salah.. 8 or 20???

Taraweeh Salah.. 8 or 20???

Let's understand with Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH..

Assalamu Alykum all...

Well i must admit that this is indeed a topic of raging fire already..

Still Insha Allah i will try to quote my words with hadiths..you can come to me if you find any dispute in my words..

First and foremost...

We all say Taraweeh Salah...How many of us exactly know its meaning??

Taraweeh means to to stop or pause or to halt...

taraweeh salah means to offer salah with pause or ease..or to offer salah with its own time and slowness...

this also means that it must be offered with reciting ayats with ease and prolonged..

Now coming to Tahajjud..It was a obligatory sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad PBUH..It was a obligatory salah for him not for us...

Tahajjud means to offer salah at later part of night or the part before fajr...with sleep..it means you must sleep before tahajjud..

Now read the below Hadith and compare my explanation with it...

Narrated Abu Salama ibn Abdur Rahman that he asked Aisha (Allah be pleased with her), "How was the prayer of Allah's Apostle (Peace be upon him) in Ramadan?" She replied, "He did not pray more than eleven raka'at in Ramadan or in any other month. He used to pray four raka'at - let alone their beauty and length - and then he would pray four - let alone their beauty and length - and then he would pray three rak'aat (witr)." She added, "I asked, 'O Allah's Apostle! Do you sleep before praying the witr?' He replied, 'O Aisha, My eyes sleep but my heart does not sleep.'" [Bukhari, 3/230, English edition]

Allah Knows best..Jazak Allah Khair.
